Rafael Alonso Arenas

Rafael is Engagement Manager – North America at VCMI, where he drives the adoption of the Carbon Integrity Claims developed by VCMI. Reporting to senior leadership, Rafael develops and nurtures partnerships across the region to support VCMI’s mission with his entrepreneurial spirit and extensive experience.
Prior to joining VCMI, Rafael co-founded Cultivo, a nature-tech startup aimed at unlocking investment in nature-based solutions. In Mexico, he also co-founded Alma Grande, a mangrove restoration project, and One Chance, an alternative protein company. His career includes roles as a Consultant at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., and as an impact investment professional at New Ventures Group.
Rafael holds a BA in Economics & Business from Colorado College and an MSc in Climate Change, Management, and Finance from Imperial College Business School.
