Statement on recent BBC Panorama documentary
The serious issues raised in the Panorama documentary highlight the need for higher standards in the voluntary carbon markets. VCMI has worked with a wide range of other organisations to develop a Claims Code of Practice. This must now be adopted quickly. Our standard is designed to ensure companies use carbon credits in addition to cutting emissions within their value chains and not to delay taking action. Only credits that meet ICVCM certification standards and deliver real emissions reduction should be used. Together these new standards will help ensure the carbon markets help accelerate the pace of climate action globally.
